Paper Kissy started THIS THREAD, Stamp Stuff Gone Bad, over at split coast stampers dot com!
She asks, I hesitate to buy stuff that will go bad and that I won’t use up before it does. I have made assumptions but maybe I’m wrong about some products. Can you tell me about stamp supplies that you bought that went bad in 2 years or less?
For instance, stickles, smooch, shimmerz, some inks, ink refills, glues? Mostly wet stuff I assume will go bad, am I right or wrong?
Here are some answers:
- Real Red and Brown Ink pad from SU gets brown and chunky. Some ladies suggested to contact your SU demonstrator and have it replaced for free!
- Gel Pens dry from non-use
- Liquid Applique
- Heat & Stick Power
- Embossing powders get clumpy, but try putting the little silica gel packets in there to absorb the moisture!
- Metallic Embossing Powders Tarnish
- Cardstock can discolor on the corners if not stored properly out of the sun.
If you know of anything else that may expire, please let me know and I’ll add it to the list!

I went to use my Angel Wings Shimmerz a couple of days ago and the “oil” had evaporated or something like that. Couldn’t use it anymore. Bummer!
NO WAY!!! I just saw that my Real Red went wonky and never thought it was a product issue. I thought I must have done something to it. No idea what since I don’t do the versamark on ink thing very often and I can’t think of anything else that could possibly have contaminated it. Thanks for the update, Tiffany!!
not really a stamping supply, but a lot of my older rub ons have gotten flaky and lost their stick. the scrapworks ones in particular
