Houndstooth. Damask. Gingham. Plaid. Paisley. Polka dot. Argyle. Animal print. Checks. Whether you fancy these or a myriad of other hot-ticket prints and patterns, we’d love to see prints and patterns used in super creative ways. How about a purse-shaped card done up in animal print? Or a shoe-shaped card honed in hounds tooth? You could make a back-to-school card with a little girl who’s sporting a pleated plaid skirt. Or what about putting a gingham lamp shade, a polka dot cloud, or a paisley poodle on a gift bag? Ooo-or what about some damask wallpaper in the background that sets the stage for some spooky Halloween scene? September/October 2010 – Dry Embossing
One of the hottest techniques around, we can’t wait to show our readers your clever and creative approaches to using dry embossing. Whether you “raise” our eyebrows with templates, borders, texture plates, frames, backgrounds, or letterpress, we’re looking for out-of-the-box, knock-our-socks-off projects of all types and varieties that use dry embossing as the focal point or as the stunning background. It’s your first chance to play! Our new column for 2010, Color Play, is ready for your input! Create cards, gift bags, tags, mini-album covers, treat containers, etc. that utilize just these 4 colors. If you need to add touches of black or white, that is perfectly acceptable, but these four colors should be the stars of the show. Believe it or not, it’s time! Yes indeed, friends, the eighth and greatest issue of Card Creations yet, is officially in the works. I know you’ve been pacing the floor, watching your e-mails, and dreaming night after night for the green light that says, “Yes! Submit! It’s time!” Get out the Big Guns ladies, it is officially your time to shine.

We can’t wait to see your unique card designs for possible publication. Our space is limited, so send us your very best ideas that feature the ultimate in card making techniques and products. We’re looking for innovative, out-of-the-box approaches to themes, interactive cards, unique card shapes, humorous and serious card sentiments, and creative uses of products that will cause a spontaneous burst of excitement in all us editors that says, “Yes!  Amazing! That card is SO in!”

I just posted this information on blog but, wanted to share it here as well…

A project I have been hoping to work on for a year now finally has been given the green light. If you’ve followed my blog for the past year or 2 you may have noticed I have been bitten by the cardmaking bug. With F&W Media, we are going forward with a book full of fresh ideas on the basics in cardmaking.

I’ve hand picked some very talented card making friends to get started on some of the cards but, I would love to fill this book with many different styles and possibly include a card from YOU! I’m looking to fill this book with close to 200 cards in many different sentiment categories.

If you may be interested in sending me a card or 2 for consideration here are the guidelines:

1. Please submit no more than 3 cards.
2. We would prefer cards that DO NOT have sentiments on the front of the card. I will accept a few with sentiments on the front but, we are mainly looking for ones that can inspire readers even if they don’t speak the English language.
3. Compensation in exchange for your card(s) will be a copy of the book.

and finally

4. All cards selected will not be returned but, will instead be donated to Cards For Heroes http://cardsforhereos.org. I am very passionate about this organization. They were very supportive to my Husband’s unit when they were deployed to Iraq last year. I would like to support them in return for all that they do by donating all cards that will be in this book.

In a nutshell, these are the themes of cards I am looking for:
Birthday (Adult, Kid, Milestone)
Holidays (Christmas – including Gift Cards and Photo cards, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents Day, Halloween)
Special Days (Graduation, Wedding/Wedding Shower, Baby/Baby Shower, Anniversary)
Basic Sentiments (Thank You, Thinking of You, Miss You, Friendship, Good Luck, Sympathy, Get Well, New Home/We’ve Moved, Congratulations, Get Well)

All cards must be new and unseen (not posted online).
Cards must be submitting by Sept 15th. I will select shortly there after and email requests for the cards choosen.
